How to do a Full Computer Back up on a PC

By

If you need to do a full computer back up on your PC there are a few steps you have to go through.

  1. Firstly open up the control panel.
  2. Open up back up.
  3. Click on the restore center symbol.
  4. Click on continue.
  5. Wait while the computer looks for backup drives.
  6. Choose where you want to save the images. It can be one of two places
  • If using the hard drive it needs to be a different partition to the one that Vista has been installed on. There needs to be a different partition, USB stick, DVDs or a different hard drive. The drive where the complete backup is being saved cannot be backed up by Vista.
  • If you need to save to DVDs, click next then start back up and this will confirm the settings and commence the backup. At this stage you will be shown how much space will be needed and how many DVDs to use.

All that will be backed up is the new items if there has been a previous back up in the same location.

8. If using DVDs there will be a prompt to insert the disk so do this and press OK. This will repeat and extra DVDs will need to be inserted until the process is finished.

9. Back up will finish so press close.

10. Shut down control panel.

This is all you need to do to carry out a full back up on the PC. You will be helped every step of the way.
